Vera Bradley, an American suitcase and fashion handbag design company, has announced plans to launch non-fungible token (NFTs) collections to educate women on the next-generation internet infrastructure “Web3 “while generating funds to support breast cancer research.
In an August 19 announcement, Vera Bradley confirmed plans to launch an NFT-backed virtual world dubbed “The World of Vera Bradley.” The digital space aims at educating women on web3 and provides a home for the brand’s NFTs.
Founded in 1982, Vera Bradley is a leader in fashionable, colorful cotton quilted handbags, accessories, and gift bags for women of all ages. Vera Bradley is also renowned for its Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer, a non-profit organization dedicated t fighting breast cancer in women. Vera Bradley anticipates launching new NFT collections to fund breast cancer research.
Vera Bradley NFTs
Vera Bradley will unleash its first batch of Heritage NFTs during the highly anticipated New York Fashion Week this September. The NFT project will feature a limited edition of 440 NFTs depicting Vera’s now-retired Jilly Bag in four archival prints.
Although customers won’t be able to choose which of the four prints they will get, the brand hopes these NFTs will be an element of surprise. Vera Bradley has made Heritage Passes available for purchase ahead of its official launch in September.
Vera Bradley Marks 40 Years
Vera Bradley celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. To celebrate in style, the brand will launch its second NFT project, dubbed the 1982 Collection. Vera Bradley will base its NFT project on its founding year.
According to the project’s website, the project will feature a limited edition of 1982 NFTs generated from 40 archival prints from the brand’s history. Although each NFT will be rare, the original Vera Bradley prints and signature pink NFTs will be the rarest in the collection. Each NFT will sell at $19.82. All proceed from the NFT sales will go to the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer.
Vera Bradley hopes the new digital collectibles will become a stepping stone for women aspiring to learn more about crypto and NFTs. Vera Bradley has described NFTs as a firm tool for fundraising. While commenting about the NFT project, Jennifer Bova, VP of Marketing, said:
“With the launch of the World of Vera Bradley and our first NFT collections, we will create an authentic and connected community of digital asset holders through innovation, vision, and a consumer-first approach. It’s another experience to strengthen Vera Bradley’s sisterhood.”
Vera’s Heritage Passes will go officially live on September 14 at a floor price of $82 each. The 1982 NFT Collection will open on October 1, with its public sale following on October 3. Users can purchase these NFTs using a credit card or ETH.
