John McAfee, the pioneer of a dead anti-virus software, has been trending for over a year since reports said he hanged himself in a Spanish jail. The software developer made headlines because of his wildlife.
So, is John McAfee still living? Let’s find out!
Our Take on John McAfee Still Living
The mystery surrounding John McAfee’s fate deepens with claims from his ex-girlfriend in a Netflix documentary suggesting he may still be alive. Despite her assertions that McAfee faked his death to live in Texas, concrete proof is lacking.
This controversy adds to the enigmatic legacy of McAfee, leaving the question of his current status unanswered.
The truth behind these claims remains speculative, highlighting the ongoing intrigue and complexity of McAfee’s life and alleged demise.
John McAfee’s Girlfriend Says He Is Still Alive
McAfee reportedly committed suicide inside a jail in Spain as he was awaiting extradition to the US, where he faced charges of tax evasion.
However, according to McAfee’s girlfriend, Samantha Herrera, the software developer faked his death and moved to Texas. According to the Belizean ex-girlfriend, Herrera, McAfee was still alive.
Herrera said that he had received a call from McAfee after his death.
He told her he was still alive and had paid people to fake his death. Herrera made these claims in a Netflix documentary titled “Running With the Devil: The Wild World of John McAfee.” The documentary was released on Wednesday this week.
Herrera also said that only three people in the world knew that he was still alive.
He also asked her to run away with him. The New York Post said that they had attempted to contact Herrera, but it has failed to receive a response on the matter.
John McAfee and Herrera
The Belizean ex-girlfriend also said that she and McAfee had started dating when she was 18.
At the time, Herrera was living in San Pedro, Belize. The two were also planning to marry. McAfee, together with Herrera, fled the country in 2012 after the suspicious death of McAfee’s next-door neighbor, Gregory Faull.
Besides Herrera’s love life with McAfee, she also helped him to secure an attorney to represent him in the case. The lawyer in question, Telesforo Guerra, was a relative of Herrera.
In the film, Herrera said that McAfee’s side of the story was that there were people after him because he failed to pay off the government. He said that they wanted to hurt him and get rid of him. She also said that McAfee had connected the Belizean government to corruption cases.
Guerra, the attorney representing McAfee in the case, helped him return safely to the United States.
After that, he broke up with Herrera and later married Janice Dyson, according to the details provided in the Netflix film.
A local news publication later reported that Guerra had died. Before the death, McAfee had jokingly told Guerra that they would have “a potential criminal in the family.”
On the other hand, the film director is astonished by the claims made by Herrera regarding McAfee’s claims of being alive.
The director also said that McAfee had promised that the two have a life together.
Despite the age difference, Herrera was interested in the relationship because McAfee promised her a different life from what she had. However, she was later left at the border, hurting her, hence the remarks she made in the Netflix film.
The answer to “Is John McAfee still living?” remains a mystery, but it’s amazing that after all these years people are still wondering if his death was a hoax.
